Robert RovegnoRobert Rovegno grew up in Woodside, Queens, one of New York City's five boroughs. Because he grew up in the city, he developed an overactive imagination. The vacant lots in his neighborhood became battlefields he and his friends had to defend gainst invading hoards of incredible monsters. On hot summer days, these lots would become exotic islands he and his friends would explore. Abandoned cars became fighter planes or spaceships that hurtled toward new galaxies. Bicycles were battle-ready steeds that galloped through his neighborhood. Summer weekends at the beach were numerous, so Bob spent many weekends snorkeling in the waters of Long Island Sound. At the age of sixteen, he met Lucy, his muse. After graduating from Davidson College with a BA in History, Bob and Lucy were married and had two beautiful daughters. Their two little girls wouldn't sleep unless their dad, Bob, told them at least one adventurous bedtime story. Things haven't changed much, as his nine grandchildren love listening to Granpa Bob's stories. Now, he spends his time playing with his grandkids, working on his antique cars, and sitting with Lucy on Holden Beach, watching and waiting for Joey Kelly and his team to pass by in their Jafco Seamaster on their way to another incredible adventure.
