Robert GoodnoughRobert Goodnough (1917-2010) was an American painter, sculptor and write associated with the Abstract Expressionists. After returning from service in World War II, Goodnough attended the Ozenfant School of Fine Arts in New York and the Hans Hofmann smmer school in Provincetown, Massachusetts. He earned his masters degree from New York University in 1950, after which he began to exhibit his paintings publicly and also to write articles for ARTnews magazine (he edited Artists Sessions at this time). Goodnough showed at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery from 1952 to 1970 (and again from 1984 to 1986). He exhibited his work in hundreds of exhibitions in the United States and abroad, and had solo exhibitions in at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
