Roald HoffmannRoald Hoffmann was born in Zloczow, Poland in 1937, survived the Nazi occupation, and arrived in the US. in 1949 after several years of post-war wandering in Europe. Since 1965 he has been at Cornell University, where he is now the Frank H T Rhodes Pofessor of Humane Letters and professor of chemistry. Dr Hoffmann received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1981 shared with Kenichi Fukui, and has received numerous awards and honorary degrees.
