In the author's opinion, a prime candidate for such bracing treatment is the area of Shakespeare scholarship, where different camps hold starkly diff rent views on the question of authorship as well as other matters, and where one finds a proliferation of questionable claims and fanciful assertions, some of which, however, may be true.
