Richard HerrRichard Herr is Professor of History, Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Philosophical Society, a corresponding member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Hitory, and the recipient of an honorary degree from the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
