Davis edited several works about Virginia and early southern history, including The Correspondence of Thomas Jefferson and Francis Walker Gilmer, 1814-1826<i> and The Colonial Virginia Satirist: Mid-Eighteenth-Century Commentaries on Politics, Religion, and Society.
