While serving with REME in the army, I was for a time in charge of the garrison telecommunicatins workshop.in Gibraltar. I worked as a development engineer in industry before moving on to do research at a university. I have worked in technical colleges as a lecturer and senior manager and have been employed in an advisory capacity by a local education authority. I have worked as a technical writer for Jaguar cars and managed data for Severn Trent water. I was awarded an open scholarship to Imperial College, London University where I graduated with bachelor's and doctor's degrees.
