Rafael Nino FelizRafael Nino Féliz is an educator and poet from the Dominican Republic. He obtained a master's degree from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD). At UASD, Féliz served as director of Student Welfareand general director for the Treasury. He was the Vice Chancellor of Development of the historic university for the periods 2008- 2011 and 2014-2018. He has been a technical expert at the Secretary of State for Education and a director of the Organization Department of the Community Development Office of the Dominican Republic. Portada universal (Universal Cover), the first book of poems by Rafael Nino Féliz, was published in the Dominican Republic in 1988. Four poetry volumes followed in rapid succession: Plegaria al cielo (Prayer to Heaven) 1990; Poemas Humanos (Human Poems) 1991; Poemas Canciones para Niños (Poems as Songs for Children) 1991; 20 poemas bajo el cielo gris de New York (20 Poems under the Gray Sky of New York) 1992. At the beginning of the new century, Féliz started another round of poetry collections: Rastros (Traces) 2000; Bajo la penumbra de un sueño (Under the Half-Darkness of a Dream) 2003; Rockash: Canto al corazón de la tierra (Rockash: I Sing to the Heart of the Earth) 2004; and Al pie de la montaña (At the Foot of the Mountain) 2006. Una gota de razón (A Drop of Reason) was published in 2009, followed by Canto a Loma Miranda: La insurrección de la esperanza (I Sing to Loma Miranda: The Insurgency of Hope) 2014, both poetry collections. In 2017, his África en mi piel (Africa in My Skin) was published to critical acclaim nationally. The poetry book is a required text for Psycho-social and cultural issues of the Dominican Republic and other university courses.
