Porsha JonesPorsha's ability to work so well with couples in crisis stems from her own personal history. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from University of California at Berkeley, she married her college sweetheart who became a professinal basketball player. Yet her life as a pro sports stay-at-home spouse abruptly ended when her husband suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack. Six months prior, her mother lost her battle with cancer at the age of forty-nine. Left with a six-year-old son, and no source of income or support, Porsha went back to school to pursue her passion in psychology and counseling. She graduated at the top of her class and received her Master of Family Therapy degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Atlanta and is currently a clinical member of the Georgia Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.Although I did not realize it at the time, it was from these tragedies that my journey as a marriage and family therapist actually began. She understood the specific lifestyle challenges athletes and their families face. She has been a featured therapist in Professional Sports Lives Magazine and the Off the Field Player's Wives Association Newsletter. Her success with this elite audience quickly spread to elite levels in other professions, resulting in her working with CEOs, religious leaders, entertainers, and other celebrities. Though no longer offering couples counseling, she left private practice as one of the top marriage therapists in Atlanta.Today, as founder of the Porsha Principles organization and co-author of The Porsha Principals: Creating and Sustaining Your Lifelong Honeymoon, Porsha continues her passion for helping couples create and sustain their lifelong honeymoon. Through her books, videos, workshops, and retreats, she has made her insights and strategies available to anyone who truly desires to do the work involved in creating highly satisfying and enjoyable relationships. After living in California for many years and traveling abroad, Porsha has made Atlanta her home. She loves to travel and learn new things about people. But most of all, she enjoys spending quality time with her adult son, great friends, family, and the man she is creating her lifelong honeymoon with. Read More Read Less
