Pierre CharbordPierre Charbord is an emeritus Inserm scientist. After his training asMD, he joined the French National Health Institute (Inserm) in 1979 andsince that date has conducted research on both hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells, investigating their ifferentiation potentials, the nicheformation and their potential implication in human diseases such as cancer. He was visiting scientist in Seattle from 1983 to 1986, where he collaborated with Jack W. Singer, studying the generation of stem cells in long-termbone marrow cultures. In 2000 and 2001, he was visiting scientist inPrinceton, where he collaborated with Kateri Moore and Ihor Lemischka, studying the transcriptome of fetal liver stromal cells.
