Philippa Mein SmithPhilippa Mein Smith is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. In Australia, she taught at Flinders University, South Australia, and later at the University of Tasmania. Her first two books were basedon her MA and Ph.D. theses: Maternity in Dispute: New Zealand, 1920–1939 (1986) and Mothers and King Baby: Infant Survival and Welfare in an Imperial World; Australia, 1880–1950 (1997). She co-authored A History of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific (2000) with Donald Denoon and Remaking the Tasman World (2008) with Peter Hempenstall and Shaun Goldfinch.
