Patsalos is Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at University College London's Institute of Neurology and Director of the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Unit based at the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy, Chalfont St Peter. He has more than 200 pubications, has served on International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) committees, and is currently Associate Editor of Epilepsia and of Therapeutic Drug Monitoring as well as Deputy Editor of the Journal of Epileptology.
