Philip ButtafuocoI'm a young at heart and mind, 69 year old who loves to write poetry, children's books and eventually novels. The saying is "It's never too late." I love to travel, swim in crystal clear calm waters and have exotic drinks on the beach. As the younges of six kids on my dad's farm, I stomped on grapes with bare feet to make wine. Boy! My feet were reddish for a long time, but it was so much fun. I immigrated to America from Sicily, Italy in 1962. I didn't speak English. I had no friends. I felt all alone. My Italian name was Felice, which other kids made fun of and said it was a girl's name, so I legally changed it to Philip when I became a US citizen. I like Felice better, it means happy. While serving in the US Air Force, I lived in Las Vegas, Iran, Greece and England. I was a technician on the F-111 Fighter Jet. I started writing poetry in the Air Force. In 1981, five of my poems were published in the "VOICES Magazine" printed by Suny College at Old Westbury NY. I retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 2018 as a technician, keeping the skies safe. I'm a member of the Long Island Writer's Guild.
