Petra BarthPetra Barth has focused her art on human, social and environmental issues in rural communities worldwide, often working with groups such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development ad the Human Rights Center at Duke University. Her project on deported migrants, "The Backpackers," was shown at the 2017 Venice Biennale and "My Original Face" was shown there in 2019.She has exhibited in museums, galleries and policy forums from the Climate Change Summit in Paris and the C40 Mayors Summit in Mexico City to Galleria de Arte Colombo Americano in Medellin Colombia, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art and the Organization of the American States in Washington, D.C. Her work is collected by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book, Manuscript and Special Collections Library at Duke. Her awards include Project Launch Grant from the Center in Santa Fe, the Beth Block Award from Houston Center for Photography, more than 10 IPA and PX3 Prix de la Photographie de Paris awards.
