Peter KokkinosDr. Peter Kokkinos received his Doctorate in Exercise Physiology from the University of Maryland, School of Public Health. He then pursued clinical post-doctoral training at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and Veterans Affairs Meical Center in Washington, DC. He is currently the Director of the Exercise Testing and Research Lab at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Washington, DC. His academic titles include: Professor of Medicine and Research at Veterans Affairs Medical Center; Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine (Cardiology), George Washington University School of Medicine Health Care Sciences and Health Sciences, and the University of Maryland, School of Public Health, College Park, Maryland. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association. Dr. Kokkinos has over 22 years of research experience in assessing cardiovascular risk and overall mortality. His research includes work on hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia and obesity. The findings of his work have resulted in numerous scientific publications in prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation, Diabetes Care and Hypertension.
