Peter AbelsDr. Peter Abels was born and raised in Stellenbosch, South Africa. He studied medicine at the University of Stellenbosch before going on to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He has excelled in the field, establishing a keen interest in obstetic cardiology. In the course of his academic career, he facilitated a move towards an electronic-based curriculum for undergraduate students that has been incorporated by other universities internationally. At present, he lectures many undergraduate and post-graduate students, and is responsible for numerous published academic articles within this field. Most notable amongst these publications is his work on probiotics in pregnancy and the enhanced outcomes for mothers and babies. He has recently moved into working on more fictional and light-hearted books, co-authoring an illustrated children's book with his wife of thirteen years, Kerry. They have four children, three boys and a girl. Peter has studied various forms of martial arts for many years and is attracted to the biomechanics and lyricism of Tai Chi, and the gentle fluidity of Kung Fu.
