Since there were no school busses to take me to junior high, as we called it, or senior high, I went to live with my grandmother in Rock Island. Theseadvanced schools had more than one thousand students, with wardrobes and vocabulary well beyond my country ways. I then went to the Catholic women's college which teamed up with the Catholic men's college for parties. At one of these I met a handsome man from Colombia: we fell in love, or hearts melded in a love that would last 60 years.
