Paul MarionPaul Marion is the author of several collections of poetry including UNION RIVER: POEMS AND SKETCHES (Bootstrap Press, 2017), What Is the City? and editor of Atop an Underwood: Early Stories and Other Writings by Jack Kerouac. His ecent book Mill Power documents the impact of a national park in Lowell, Massachusetts. His ancestors left France for North America in the 1600s, and their descendants settled in Lowell about 1880, both family lines having emigrated from Quebec to work in the robust textile-mill hub. Born in 1954 in Lowell, he grew up in a town nearby after the first suburban wave of the 1950s. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Lowell and studied in the creative writing program at the University of California in Irvine. For 40 years, he has been active in the transformation of Lowell from a struggling post-industrial city to the vital urban center of its region. His poems, essays, and articles have appeared in Alaska Quarterly Review, The Massachusetts Review, Slate, The Christian Science Monitor, Carolina Quarterly, Aspect, Zone 3, Bohemian, Yankee, and The Salmon Literary Quarterly. His work is included in the anthologies For a Living: The Poetry of Work, French Connections: A Gathering of Franco-American Poets, and Line Drives: 100 Contemporary Baseball Poems.
