Pankaj JalotePankaj Jalote is the Founding Director of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi). He worked as the Director of IIIT-Delhi from 2008 to 2018, during which it reached the list of BRICS top 200 universities.Prior to this, he has been a Chair Professor at IIT Delhi, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kanpur, where he was also a Head of the Department, and an Assistant Professor at University of Maryland at College Park. From 1996 to 1998, he was Vice President at Infosys Technologies Ltd., and from 2003 to 2004, he was a Visiting Researcher at Microsoft Corporation, Redmond. He has a BTech from IIT Kanpur (1980), MS from Pennsylvania State University and a PhD from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1985). He has served on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Empirical Software Engineering and IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, and was the General Chair for the International Conference on Software Engineering (2014).He is the author of five books. His books CMM in Practice (Addison Wesley) and Software Project Management in Practice (Addison Wesley) were highly acclaimed and were translated in many languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean and French. His textbook An Integrated Approach to Software Engineering (Springer, three editions) was very popular, and its Indian edition was declared as the bestselling computer science book by its local publisher (Narosa). The book A Concise Introduction to Software Engineering was published by Springer, and its Indian edition by Wiley India. The book Fault Tolerance in Distributed Systems (Prentice Hall) was the first graduatelevel book in the area. Currently, he is a Distinguished Professor at IIIT-Delhi.
