Pam MacriI have been a writer for 25 years, focusing on short stories and marketing materials. I am most proud of a cookbook that I wrote and dedicated to my late mom who was a phenomenal cook. Awakened by Hate is my latest work, a fictional story based on acual events around police brutality and corruption. As a result of the experience detailed in Awakened by Hate, I am an advocate for those with mental health struggles. I work to change the laws to support those diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Order (PTDS). It is my duty to be an advocate because of my personal experience with PTSD and how it affects individuals, their families, and to create and educate into police training programs. This disorder is greatly underestimated, and I am working tirelessly to make it a priority in legislation and stop the inhumanity that has happened. I sit on the Board of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) focusing on PTSD recovery court programs and working to ensure that police protocols include how to appropriately deal with individuals who suffer from mental illness. When I am not writing or advocating, I work in the Project Management sector teaching continuous improvement and a Six Sigma Blackbelt problem-solving professional. I enjoy gardening, especially roses. I love cooking, a fond memory that my late mother passed down to me, and a way to keep her spirit alive. I live in the Midwest with my husband and our two dogs.
