Nirupama DeviNirupama Devi (born 1934) grew up in Puri sasan and a family environment where a love of literature was pursued and encouraged. KalloLini, her first published book, has been curated from a large volume of poems that she has composed over a period of ome 50 years. In these poems, she draws on her experience of living in the midst of nature - often in very remote parts of Odisha - with her husband, Shri Bisweswar Das, an officer of the Indian Forest Services. As a mother of seven children, a care giver for multiple nephews and nieces, and a matriarch of a large extended family, Nirupama Devi's writing is also inevitably influenced by a deep bonding with her kinship. Above all, her poems are consistently informed by her humanity, her love of living things, and an impassioned sense of spirituality. She is also a prolific writer of short stories, travelogues, autobiographical sketches, and reflective thought pieces. Read More Read Less
