Nicholas D ThomsonDr. Nicholas Thomson, forensic research psychologist and Director of Research at the Injury and Violence Prevention Program at VCU Health and Assistant Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, has a ealth of experience working with victims and perpetrators of firearm-related violence in inner cities and urban municipalities. Recently, Dr. Thomson received a prestigious, 1.95M CDC-funded award to study retaliatory gun violence prevention, setting him apart as one of the first researchers to receive a federally-funded award to research firearm violence in America in over 25 years. Dr. Thomson has broad funding history in gun violence, violence prevention, and psychopathology research. He is also an active member on several city, state, and national gun violence prevention initiatives. Dr. Thomson is widely published in the field of forensic and developmental psychology, including a sole authored book published by Routledge in 2019, Understanding Psychopathy: The Biopsychosocial Perspective.
