Nancy Avery DafoeAuthor, editor, and educator Nancy Avery Dafoe writes across genres and has won multiple awards for her work, including the William Faulkner/William Wisdom creative writing competition in poetry (2016). Dafoe has eleven published books, with her twelth book coming out in September 2022. In addition to her memoir about the loss of her son, Unstuck in Time: A Memoir and Mystery on Loss and Love (Pen Women Press) just released this September, Dafoe wrote about her mother's Alzheimer's and its effect on the family in her memoir An Iceberg in Paradise: A Passage Through Alzheimer's (SUNY Press). Her novella Naimah and Ajmal on Newton's Mountain (FLP) joins her other fiction work, three mystery novels: You Enter a Room, Both End in Speculation, and Murder on Ponte Vecchio (RPP). Her poetry books include The House Was Quiet, But the Mind Was Anxious (September 2022); Innermost Sea; and Poets Diving in the Night (FLP). In addition, Dafoe has written books on educational policy and teaching writing, published through Rowman & Littlefield Education: Breaking Open the Box, The Misdirection of Education Policy, and Writing Creatively.Her fiction, poetry, and nonfiction works appear in several anthologies, including Lost Orchard (SUNY Press) and Lost Orchard II (PWP); NY Votes for Women: A Suffrage Centennial Anthology (Cayuga Lake Books); and in multiple journals and magazines.Dafoe has taught English and writing in a variety of settings, including high school, community college, and workshops through various institutions.
