Myron AugsburgerMyron S. Augsburger was born in 1929 in Elida, Ohio. He received his A.B. and Th.B. degrees from Eastern Mennonite College (now Eastern Mennonite University), Harrisonburg, Virginia; his B.D. degree from Goshen College Biblical Seminary, Goshen, Indina; and his Th.D. degree from Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Virginia. He was ordained to the ministry in 1951 as pastor of the Tuttle Avenue Mennonite Church, Sarasota, Florida. For four years he was pastor of students at Eastern Mennonite University. In July of 1965 he became President of Eastern Mennonite University and served in that capacity until 1980. Now the Endowed Chair of Theology there, Augsburger has served in many contexts, from the local church to international evangelistic preaching missions, including many ecumenical efforts across the United States and Canada. He has served as an evangelist, church planter, and pastor, as well as the moderator of his denomination - the Mennonite Church. Augsburger has served as Professor of Theology at EMU and as President of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities, 1988 -1995. He is the author of many articles and more than twenty books.
