Myles CoverdaleMyles Coverdale was co-translator of the 1537 Matthew Bible along with William Tyndale. It might well be said that he contributed more to the English Reformation than any other man. He gave England her first printed English Bible, known as the 1535 Cverdale Bible, which was licensed for use in the English Church in 1536. He contributed over half of the translations of the 1537 Matthew Bible, and was also chief editor of the Great Bible (1539-1540). He published several of his own books and essays. He also translated some of the best works of the European Reformers, including the writings of Otho Wermullerus, from whom this work is taken, and Martin Luther.
