Monica L MonicaMonica L Monica was born at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans while her dad was attending Tulane University. After living mostly in the South, she returned to Tulane University and graduated cum laude. She then went on to receive an MD, PhD from Louisiaa State Medical School. Later in life, she received an MHA from Tulane University. She completed an Ophthalmology Residency and practiced in the New Orleans area for over 25 years. Dr. Monica was elected to both national and state leadership positions in Ophthalmology. She ran for Congress in 1999 during which, sadly, her father passed away. Monica wrote two children's books, "Freckles Goes to Grand Cayman" and "Freckles Goes to Washington D.C." The former book was an homage to the many trips she had taken to Grand Cayman with her family and parents. Monica still resides in the New Orleans area with her physician husband, Daniel Long. She has two daughters, Lisa, who works in film, and Danielle, who is a producer at Williamstown Theatre Festival. Read More Read Less
