Mike SmathersBorn and raised on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee's Central Appalachian region, a lifelong resident thereof, and a self -proclaimed hillbilly, Mike Smathers is a retired developer and administrator of low-income housing and other non-profit antipoverty organizations. He is also a Presbyterian Pastor who has served five churches, the largest of which had 75 members and the smallest had six attendees, having given up on keeping track of members. He and his father before him pastored the Calvary Church of Big Lick (Tennessee), Presbyterian for a combined total of 47 years.
