Michelle Nicholson

Michelle has amassed over thirty years of primary teaching experience since reading English Literature and Education at Homerton College Cambridge. She has worked across a mixture of settings: as a class teacher, leading teacher, senior leader, an education consultant. Michelle currently works as the Lead Primary English Adviser for HFL Education, supporting schools around the country to improve learning outcomes for children, and is a fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching.

Michelle is dedicated to ensuring all children can enjoy success in reading and writing no matter what their circumstance. To this end, her master's degree research examined the psychology of learners and strategies to close the learning gap for our most vulnerable children. As part of her drive for literacy for all, she supported schools as part of the National Strategies campaign 'Every Child a Writer', as well as working for the Herts Traveller Education Project and the national charity, Achievement for All.

When not at work, Michelle is a trustee of a local foodbank, which was recently granted the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. She loves music festivals, spending time with her family and sitting down with a good book.
