Michael P MallardiMichael P. Mallardi joined The American Broadcasting Company in 1956 and then spent the next forty years both within and outside ABC in various executive positions in the media industry. He eventually became ABC's Chief Financial Officer and one of tree Executive Vice Presidents. He was elected to the Board of Directors in October 1976. Upon sale of the company to Capital Cities, Inc., ten years later, he was appointed as Senior Vice President and President of Capital Cities/ABC Broadcast Group. He retired in 1996. He was a founding trustee of the J.P. Morgan Mutual funds and was on the board of the EEX Corporation, an oil exploration company in Houston, Texas. He also served as a director for several non-profit organizations including serving as chairman of The Bon Secours Charity-Health System. He was born in East Harlem on March 17, 1934 to an Italian immigrant father and a mother one generation removed from her immigrant roots. Raised primarily in Flushing, New York, Michael received a scholarship to a Catholic military academy becoming valedictorian of his class and then matriculated at the University of Notre Dame where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He and Sylvia, his wife of 59 years, have two daughters, Karen and Stephanie and one very special granddaughter, Natalie Joan. He and his wife make their home in Ramsey, New Jersey.
