Michael KaramMichael Karam is a journalist, wine writer and documentary maker. A world-renowned expert in Lebanese wine, Karam is regularly invited to give lectures, talks and write articles on the subject. His writings have appeared in Decanter, Harpers Wine eekly, Monocle and The Spectator, while he has also written on Lebanese affairs for The Spectator, The Times and Esquire. He is a contributor to Jancis Robinson's Oxford Companion to Wine and The World Atlas of Wine, and Hugh Johnson's Pocket Wine Book, as well as the award-winning Wine Report. He is the author of Wines of Lebanon, winner of the Gourmand Award for Best New World Wine Book, Arak and Mezze: The Taste of Lebanon, shortlisted for the Gourmand award for Best Food and Travel Book, Château Ksara: 150 years of wine making 1957-2007 and A History of Winemaking in the Arab World. Karam produced Wine and War, a feature-length documentary about the historical resilience of Lebanon's winemakers during occupation, war and instability from the Phoenicians to the present day. He lives between the UK and Lebanon.
