Miata SwarayI am the daughter of Lucy Caulker and Momoh Foh. I was born in Port Loko, northern province of Sierra Leone, where my Father worked as a civil servant. I attended Central Nursery School, Regent Square and St Anne's primary (elementary), St Joseph's ad Ahmadiyya Secondary Schools (high school). I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma in Education from Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone, in Freetown.I taught at St Helen, and Albert Academy secondary schools for fifteen years, where I was also the Director of Admissions. In 1997, my husband, along with our two daughters and I relocated to the United States amidst the civil war.In 1998, I started teaching preschoolers at Children's world child care center, now known as KinderCare Education. I received the 2000 and 2001 Honor Teacher award, 2002 Master Educator, and Teacher Of The Year award in 2007. In 2009, I received my Child Development Associates from Council for Professional Recognition (CDA Council). I love teaching, inspiring, challenging and empowering little minds. I am forever grateful to the parents who have given me an opportunity to positively impact the lives of their children. These children played a role in influencing my decision to write stories.
