MestannaMestanna found her passion for writing through poetry. It was in 1991, shortly after the Rodney King beating that she was watching the Oprah Winfrey talk show. Oprah had people of many different ethnicities on her show to discuss the devastating effets of the LA riots and racism. Overcome with many emotions, Mestanna picked up her pen and discovered poetry as an outlet to express her pain and frustration. In 1999, Mestanna published her first poem Able and received the Published Poet: Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Poetry. In 2000, Her poem The African-American Woman Survivor of All Times was written and used in a state-wide Beauty Pageant. She started writing her prayers as a supplication to God to heal her immense pain caused by childhood traumas, abusive and dysfunctional relationships. Mestanna turned her pain into her passion and in 2019, Mestanna completed her first manuscript titled, The Devil's Bedroom - Breaking Free from The Chains of Guilt & Shame. The poems and prayers in this book were written in real time while the author was experiencing adversity.Mestanna is an intuitive empath that uses universal truth and spiritual wisdom to teach others how to transform their lives. Her mission is to inspire and teach others how to let go of the chains of guilt and shame by learning unconditional self-love, forgiveness and how to discover their true calling by examining their traumas, experiences, and decisions. In 2021, Mestanna formed her own publishing company, Incite Change Publishing LLC. with the plan to make The Devil's Bedroom a trilogy and to write and publish many non-fiction books.
