Consequently, what I ultimately discovered was that my XYZ-DoKu puzzles (sudokus with letters and mystery messages) were especially fun for mostly everyone I encountered, from Middle School-aged students --and their teachers, too-- through middle-aged (and beyond). Also, for many years I had designed XYZ-DoKu puzzles for my retirement community newspaper, each with a different monthly mystery message.
