Melvin James WoodardDr. Melvin J. Woodard III is pastor and founder of New Salem Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN. He formerly pastored New Bethel Baptist Church (Indianapolis) and Mount Zion Baptist Church (Lorain, OH). He is currently on faculty at Charles A. Tindley ccelerated (High) School in Indianapolis as a biology/chemistry teacher. Dr. Woodard and family moved to Indiana in June 2006 and has since received a Master of Arts in Advanced Leadership ('09), Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership ('12), and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University ('15); and an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from International University of Ministry and Education ('13). At IWU, Dr. Woodard developed a psychometric instrument entitled the Leadership Influence and Decision-Making Inventory (LIDMI), based on Robert Sternberg's imbalance theory of foolishness. Dr. Woodard previously has received a Master of Arts in Religious Studies ('90), Master of Divinity ('93) equivalency, and a Doctor of Ministry in Black Church Studies ('93) from Ashland Theological Seminary's McCreary Center for African American Religious Studies; and a PhD (ABD) from Cambridge University in Oxford England ('01). Prior to assuming full-time pastoral ministry ('06), Dr. Woodard was an Anesthesiologist Assistant for 24 years in Northeast Ohio following graduation from Case Western Reserve University ('82). He has traveled broadly, spoken extensively, and written professionally on numerous subjects.
