I have had many challenges throughout my life encountering discrimination, ostly in the subtle, non-overt way. I have made millions for the corporate bottom-line, but received little recognition. On several occasions, I became the lead negotiator for companies in the aerospace industry. It was not in my job description; however, it was noted, in each instance, that the companies experienced its best performance in contract acquisitions and profit. Knowing that I frequently outperformed my peers, and received little recognition, it is painful to see, in today's society, people being promoted or appointed to a position, not based on capability, but on their beliefs, skin color, or association.
