Matthias Joseph Scheeben Matthias Joseph Scheeben (1835-1888) was a mystic and writer who studied under Passaglia and Perrone at the Gregorian University in Rome. Scheeben taught dogmatic theology at the Episcopal seminary of Cologne for fifteen years. His works include The ysteries of Christianity, The Glories of Divine Grace, and A Manual of Catholic Theology: Based on Scheeben's ""Dogmatik"".
