Matthew J Opdyke

Matthew J OpdykeBorn in Stanford University Hospital, in California, adopted at the age of nine, raised with loving parents who mentored, coached, trained, and even played after chores were done, I lived in Uruguay for two years, serving as a missionary for a wonderul church. With great respect for the past, yet moving on, I found myself as an author, after retiring from the military with seventeen years of service. Having served in a number of extra duties and having learned Spanish and some Indonesian, I learned to love the people of this world ten times over. Shortly after meeting my wife, I was finally able to buckle down and finish my BAS in Management. Since my youth, I've worked in pear sheds, for a telephone company, construction companies, sheet-metal shops, various odd jobs, served in the US Air Force, to protect, rather than harm, and I've witnessed amazing leadership and some instances where the revolving door was the hallmark, to say the least. As I pored through biotechnology, neuroscience, and theoretical physics books galore I began to ask why I hadn't heard about this or that before, especially if it could help so many. I developed a story arch and breathed life into numerous characters for my very first series of books tackling some of the intriguing questions of the day, and allowing it to take place in a less than ideal environment, much like what we experience daily, and then allow them to achieve utopian and almost fantastical results through care, love, kindness, dedication, research, innovation, and eyes always focused on why we do things, what are our goals with them, and how can we achieve a higher potential. The answers are actually quite simple, A-political, and will bring joy to any individual who discovers them, no matter their course in life or their age. Love, life, laughter, kindness, preservation of life and its quality, clarity of mind, and so much more set us on a path to a future we can be proud of, and a legacy we would be glad to share with distant civilizations no matter where we travel throughout our Universe. We cannot limit ourselves, simply because the tools we have may not be sufficient to reach beyond those limits. It is ours to ask how, why, and what, and then determine the when. This first series of mine begins with a two-part prelude to a great space opera series. Please buckle up and enjoy the ride! Read More Read Less
