María E FránquizMaría E. Fránquiz is a professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Texas at Austin. She is an internationally recognized language and literacy scholar with thirty-plus years' experience as a teacher, teacher-educato, researcher, and administrator. Fránquiz has worked with students of every grade level in diverse geographic areas such as California, Alaska, Colorado, Utah, and Texas. She has coedited two books, Inside the Latin@ Experience: A Latin@ Studies Reader and Scholars in the Field: The Challenges of Migrant Education. Other publications include numerous peer-reviewed articles in professional journals, academic handbooks, edited books, and special topics journals. Among her professional service contributions are trustee of the NCTE Research Foundation, mentor and director of Cultivating New Voices Among Scholars of Color, and 2022-2023 NCTE president.
