Mary HaleMary B. Hale is Assistant Director of Scholarly and Undergraduate Programs at the Newberry Library in Chicago. She holds a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she wrote a dissertation titled "Democratic Conventions: The Form f Politics in the Gilded Age." She has won numerous awards, including a fellowship from the Massachusetts Historical Society to support her work on Henry Adams. Her work has appeared in journals such as American Literature and the New Americanist. Her current project is a consideration of the political fiction of Ellen Glasgow in the post-Populist South.
