Martin GroenewoudThe Author, Martin Groenewoud (Martin), was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on December 22nd, 1954, and grew up in 'Nieuwendam', the Northern part of Amsterdam. After finishing High School, he studied Mathematics and Economics at the 'Vrije Univeriteit' van Amsterdam. Martin worked in the IT Industry for 38 years, of which 12 years at one of the large Dutch Banks and 26 years for IBM, before retiring in 2015. He lives in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel with his wife Jeannette, his son Dennis and his daughter Ronesca. In 1972 Martin visited Canada for the first time and fell in love with Canada instantly. After that first visit most summer vacations were spent travelling across many Provinces and Territories by motorhome. In 2007 they purchased a piece of property in Sandy Hook, Sechelt where they built their own cottage. Since 2008 they call the Sunshine Coast their second 'home'. A piece of paradise, 'a home away from home'. Throughout all their travels Martin wrote poems and short stories illustrated by landscape photos and wildlife photos which are reflected in his book.
