Martha Sif Karrebaek

Martha Sif Karrebæk, Associate Professor at University of Copenhagen, has worked with a broad range of topics in the field of multilingualism. Her PhD focused on peer group socialization and second language acquisition in pre-schol, using Construction Grammar and Language Socialization. She subsequently studied how children become socialized into the role of students in a school with a student population characterized by diversity. She continued to focus on the use and non-use of different linguistic registers in the first grades. Karrebæk has led a project on Mother Tongue Education in Copenhagen, and is now starting a project on interpreting in the public sector in Denmark. Karrebæk is also well-known for her work on the intersections between food and language, and she has published on the intersection between (in)security and language.
