Markus HeideMarkus Heide is associate professor at the University of Hildesheim (Germany) and an affiliated researcher at the Swedish Institute for North-American Studies (SINAS) at Uppsala University where he taught as associate professor until 2020. His recentresearch concentrates on Inter-American relations (USA, Canada, Mexico) and representations of the US-Mexico border (history and current situation). Among other publications, he co-edited The Americas in the Nineteenth Century: Inter-American Perspectives on U.S. Literature (2008) and Hemispheric Encounters: The Early United States in Transnational Perspective (2015). The monograph Framing the Nation, Claiming the Hemisphere was supported by fellowships: 2016 Uppsala University-Matariki research fellow at Dartmouth College, 2018 fellow at the Center for Iberian and Latin American Studies (CILAS) at UC San Diego (Riksbankens Jubileumsfond Sabbatical, SAB17-1062:1), and in 2020 Uppsala University-Matariki research fellow at the University of Tübingen.
