Marko Beko Marko Beko was born in Belgrade, Serbia, on November 11, 1977. He received the Dipl. Eng. degree from the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia, in 2001 and the Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lsbon, Portugal, in 2008. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, Portugal. He is also a Researcher at the UNINOVA, Campus da FCT/UNL, Monte de Caparica, Portugal. His current research interests are in the area of signal processing for wireless communications and nonsmooth and convex optimization. He serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Access Journal and Elsevier Journal on Physical Communication. He was awarded a Starting Grant under the Investigador FCT programme of the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation in 2016. He is the winner of the 2008 IBM Portugal Scientific Award.
