His books include Third View, Second Sights; Desert Legends; Revealing Territory; and Black Rock Desert, with William Fox. e has received three National Endowment for the Arts fellowships, a Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission fellowship, a Guggenheim fellowship, and the Buhl Foundation award.
