Mark HellowellDr. Mark Hellowell is Director of the Global Health Policy Unit at the University of Edinburgh, one of the world's top 20 universities. Dr. Hellowell's work focuses on improving public-private sector engagement in the financing and delivery of healthcare, both in advanced economies and emerging markets. He has authored more than 30 peer reviewed scientific publications, mostly on this topic, his work featuring in prominent print and broadcast media, including The Financial Times, The Economist, and the BBC. He is former special advisor to the United Kingdom parliament's Treasury Select Committee, and has worked with the World Bank, DfID, and the Global Financing Facility on capacity-building initiatives for key policymakers who seek to mobilise the private health sector in order to accurate their progress towards Universal Health Coverage. He currently works with the World Health Organisation on a project to enhance emergency preparedness and health system resilience capacities in LMICs through public/private coordination - now with a focus on LMIC national responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
