His reearch involves clinical observation and the use of PET and MR imaging as a method of investigating etiology, pathophysiology, and effects and complications of novel therapies in neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease. He has served as a chief investigator in a number of observational and interventional trials. Professor Politis has received a high number of awards and distinctions such as from the Movement Disorder Society, Royal College of Physicians, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, and European Academy of Neurology.
