Margery Eldridge

Margery EldridgeMargery Evans Eldridge was born in Ralls, Texas, in 1925. After the death of most of their family, she and her sister and brother (Frances and Don) were taken to Sherman, Texas, to spend several years at the Woodmen Circle Home. The Home was owned an sponsored by the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle Life Insurance Company.In 1941 she was adopted from her sister and brother, as they had become her guardians, with permission from the Insurance Board of Directors. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Evans of Sherman adopted her on October 26, 1941. Margery was fifteen and a junior at Sherman High School when she was adopted. She graduated in 1942.Margery attended Austin College in Sherman for two years and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1945, with a B.A. in English and minor in philosophy. She worked in Sherman for two years, then married Robert H. Eldridge, of Springfield, Ohio. They have two daughters, Lisa Eldridge Grinsfelder and Kimberly Eldridge South, and three granddaughters, Julie and Emily Grinsfelder, and Meridith South.The author was a retired schoolteacher, and for a time created custom flower designs for decorators in the Dallas area. She also took computer and creative writing courses at Richland Community College and enjoyed learning. She passed away in 2010. Read More Read Less
