Marc LochbaumMarc Lochbaum is a Professor of the Psychology of Physical Activity in the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences at Texas Tech University. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, his mastr's from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and his doctorate from Arizona State University. As a faculty member at Texas Tech since 2000, he has been actively involved in research aimed at understanding personality and motivational determinants of college-aged students' physical activity as well as the psychological benefits of being physically active. In addition, he has been instrumental in expanding the impact of his department's one-hour basic physical activity courses through development and enhancement of Connect Get Active! He is currently a co-investigator on a $24.5 million project by the U.S. Department of Education; his role is to administrate as well as research the benefits to youth enrolled in the high-quality afterschool programs his department runs in a low-income area of Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Lochbaum began publishing and presenting his research in the early 1990s. He is active in a number of professional organizations, including acting as 2013 chair of the Basic Activities Section of the College Division of the Texas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
