Mar MassonProf. Mar Masson, Ph.D., is a Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Iceland. He graduated as a Doctor of Engineering (Biotechnology) from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, in 1995 and with a Can. Scient (MS) in organic chemistry, Copenhagen University, Denmark in 1990. His research group's work is mainly focused on the synthesis and investigation of chitosan derivatives for antimicrobial and drug delivery applications. The group developed TBDMS protection strategy for chitosan that be utilized for chemoselective and highly controlled synthesis chitosan derivatives and recently reported the synthesis of water-soluble chitotriazolans.
