He developed large scale genomic trials and is widely known for his leading efforts in making molecular breeding a reality by deeloping improved lines for improved plant disease resistance. He has published over 150 scientific articles in various high impact journals and approximately 200 conference papers. His research interest includes genome sequencing, re-sequencing, comparative genomics, transcriptomics, trait mapping and gene discovery, development of diagnostic markers, low-cost genotyping assays and molecular breeding in crop plants.
